Training and Education
RMD provides healthcare training through the RMD Academy of Health for women from underprivileged communities to help them become healthcare assistants (nurses) and psychosocial workers. The Academy is accredited to Bharath University and Tamilnadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) / Bharat Sevak Samaj BSS Schemes.
Most of the women chosen for the training are school dropouts from economically backward communities. Following the completion of their training, they get placed as community health workers, allowing them to benefit from job security while also helping improve health markers in the community.
RMD Trust has so far provided training for over 2400 women. We have also had the opportunity to train close to 30 individuals from the transgender community, enabling them to access independent livelihood options.
